![]() I discovered a few local wrestling companies a few years ago after moving back to Central Pennsylvania, from Austin, Texas. I really enjoyed them, and got to know the owners, and many of the wrestlers as well. Having once been involved in wrestling many years ago, I got back into it by starting a website, and doing freelance writing for several others. What I really dreamed of though was seeing one of the companies become the “Pro Wrestling Guerilla” of the east Coast. Pro Wrestling Guerilla, or “PWG” is a “super indy” company that books only the finest talent in the world. They actually hold their events in a very small venue, an American Legion building in Reseda, California. It’s not about selling more tickets than such and such company. It’s about having the most dedicated fanbase, and having the highest quality matches possible. They make a nice amount of income from their DVD distribution. In fact that’s why a massive live crowd isn’t a must. Every wrestling fan worth his salt knows you’ve gotta have the latest PWG DVD! The WWE have scouted there numerous times, with William Regal himself making the trip on several occasions. Many former PWG talents now wrestle for WWE/NXT including Kevin Owens, Kalisto, Sami Zayn, and former WWE World Champion Seth Rollins. While I feel PWG uses a little too much “smart mark comedy” on their shows, I love how picky they are in regard to who gets booked to perform. I’ve never understood why there couldn’t be another PWG style of company, and since PWG is in California, why not have that other company be on the East Coast? Better yet, why not right here in Central Pennsylvania? While the few wrestling companies I followed, and at times even worked for an interviewer and or commentator for their DVD’s/internet downloadable shows, I never got the feeling that any of them had the desire to be a PWG style of company. Contrary to popular belief, that didn’t make me hate them. I admit that I wasn’t a fan of watching local guys that had no desire to be anything other than a local guy, wrestle on the cards, let alone hold titles. To me it made no sense to see some part time guy be the champion while other, clearly more talented performers that could be signed by WWE, TNA, or ROH, at any moment were on those same cards. While I respect anyone that’s made it to the big time, I didn’t get why former WWE stars were in main events while up and comers were opening the shows, or on the midcard. Of course all of that has since been explained to be ad nauseam, and I see the points that have been made to me, it’s still not enjoyable to me. I’ve never stomped my feet and demanded that anyone listen to me, or my ideas. What good would that have done? What I did do though was offer my thoughts any time they were asked for, and wrote show reviews according to how I saw them. While the local companies never fully satisfied me, I remained a fan, and a supporter of them over all. Eventually though, my refusal to claim the local companies as “worthy,” or “Wrestling Done Right,” caused friction, and lead me to walk away from them. One has since fallen apart, and the other is now owned by an individual I believe to be despicable, and of whom I cannot support. Thank God for Legacy Wrestling! Legacy is the brainchild of one of the bookers, and also part owner of the one local company that fell apart. This man went out and found a likeminded partner to start this wonderful company that is making my dreams come true. Legacy strives to be the “PWG” of the East Coast. Legacy books only top notch athletes and performers. The kind and style of wrestlers that could walk into the WWE performance center, and onto a televised match on NXT, and do wonderfully. Men like David Starr, JT Dunn, Jonathan Gresham, Eddie Smooth, Lio Rush, Matt Riddle, Laszlo Arpad, Façade, and the amazing AR Fox. Each and every match at a Legacy show is exciting, fun, and can’t miss. It is Legacy’s goal to not put on a match where you feel it’s safe to take a potty break, or go top your beer off. If you decide to leave your seat at a Legacy show, during any match, you are going to be sorry you did so. That folks is the kind of wrestling company I’ve been desperate for. I’m extremely proud to be the color commentator for Legacy’s DVD’s, and I cannot wait to see where they are going from here. While nearly every company out there gives you something to get excited over, some matches you’ll never forget, Legacy Wrestling makes their entire card the main event, their entire shows are unforgettable, and they are the kind of place where the next big names in Professional Wrestling will pass through because it is absolutely Wrestling Done Right!

I haven't been caught up with professional wrestling in a couple years due to life challenges but I'm about to now. I recently attended a Legacy Wrestling even last Saturday night in Manheim Pa. and it blew my mind at the quality of the show. My family and my terminally ill 11yo son were honorary guests of one of the wrestlers, "TJ Mathis". We all had the most fun at this event than I've had attending NFL games. I am very excited to watch this company along with the other up and coming leagues bloom into wonderful and economical forms of family intertaiment in the future. I will be buying merchandise, attending events and promoting these companies going forward.
