![]() This Friday, June 24, 2016 on PPV Mark Briscoe vs. Roderick Strong- It’s been well publicized that Roddy is done with ROH after this show. That just leaves us to wonder if he will go out after a win, or a loss. If I know Roddy, I suspect he puts Mark over here, and I believe he should. For too long Mark hasn’t been taken very serious, even though he is an extremely good wrestler. I look for Roddy to work hard to prove that Mark is legit, and should be taken as serious as anyone on the ROH roster. As such, this will be a terrific match. Moose & War Machine vs. Bullet Club (Adam Cole, Young Bucks)- War Machine seems to be on a slide as of late. Having lost the tag titles to The Addiction, and having failed to get them back, they most recently lost a tag team tournament to Silas Young and Beer City Bruiser! There are strong rumors that Moose is headed to NXT. So I am left thinking that these three may not get as well as the might Bullet Club always does. Cole’s trajectory is increased dramatically since joining with The Bullet Club, and The Young Bucks are coming off a big win where they captured The IWGP Junior tag titles for the fifth time! I see momentum on the side of The BC guys, and while the match will be as fun as hell, Cole and The Bucks pull off the win. Donovan Dijak (w/ Prince Nana) vs. Lio Rush- If you saw Rush vs Punisher Martinez during the Top Prospect Tournament, you know that you cannot count out the much smaller Rush here. While the size difference will be almost unbelievable, Rush is known for taking big men down. As much as I like, and respect Punisher, Dijak is just a little bit different. He’s been on a tear on the indy scene, proving that he is to be taken very seriously. He also left the hottest stable in ROH, and isn’t the least bit intimidated by “The House of Truth,” including ROH World champion, Jay Lethal. I look for Rush to be an amazing as ever, but just come up a little “short” against the rising tide of Donavan Dijak. Kyle O'Reilly vs. Kamaitachi- Kyle O’Reilly is so far past the point of deserving the ROH World title that it’s kind of ridiculous. His team with ROH TV champion, Bobby Fish, reDRagon, is one of the greatest teams in all of professional wrestling, and in NJPW he has defeated some of the best names on that roster. Here he faces one of NJPW’s hottest stars in Kamaitachi, and it will be a great back and forth match that may steal the show, however this is Kyle’s house, and he’s not going to allow himself to lose this one. Kyle will move on with a win to face the winner of the main event for the ROH World title. In a “fight without honor” it’s BJ Whitmer vs. Steve Corino…I don’t even know what to say about this other than it should be freaking brutal. This has to be the most drawn out, slowly built, match that I can remember for quite some time. Then again, it’s not going to be a “match,” it’s going to be two guys beating on each other with pure hatred. I suspect Corino wins it, because he pretty much has to. This is going to be “different’ but still should be very entertaining. ROH WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP Addiction (c) vs. Motor City Machine Guns It’s odd to me, though not bad, that two teams that many thought were washed up are facing off for the world titles here. The Addiction get some heat from ROH fans and I’ll never understand why. Kaz and Daniels are two of the greatest pure workers in the world. They gel well as a team, and are extremely entertaining. The MCMG once owned TNA at a time when TNA was very, very good, and had an amazing roster of top stars. They not seemed to have lost a step in any way. This match should be seen as a dream match, but I’m annoyed that many fans are ho-humming it. I guess that shows you how good ROH wrestling is, but I suspect the MCMG pull of the victory and become the new champs. ROH WORLD TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP Bobby Fish (c) vs. Dalton Castle (w/ The Boys) Most know that I am not a Dalton Castle fan. That doesn’t mean that I think he’s a bad wrestler, it’s just that his “gimmick” is so far over the top that I struggle to take him seriously no matter how talented he is. He also doesn’t fit ROH’s mold, and I know that’s why so many love him, and that’s fine, I’ve learned to accept him at this point…for the most part. That said though, I see this match being incredible. I look for Castle to wrestle better than he ever has in his life, mostly because he’s in there with Bobby Fish, one of the best pure “wrestlers” in the business. I think the fans will be on their feet for most of this match, and like O’Reilly, I see Fish possibly stealing the show here with Castle. After numerous near falls, Fish will win a mind blowing match. ROH WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP Jay Lethal (c) (w/ Taeler Hendrix) vs. Jay Briscoe What an amazing year for the ROH World champion Jay Lethal. He’s held the ROH title for over a year now, and defeated every single challenge placed in front of him. If there is a modern day Ric Flair, at least in regard to how he’s being booked, it’s Jay Lethal. Jay Briscoe however is the ROH darling, the man who has lived ROH wrestling for his entire career. However, Jay is also incredible in the ring. He has it all, the looks, the skill, and the charisma. If there are two guys that should be representing everything ROH has to offer it’s the two Jay’s in this match. These men will prove why they are the main event of the show, and while predicting a winner is very difficult, I believe Lethal retains to keep his unbelievable streak going, and his next challenger may be the man to finally stop him, that man being Kyle O’Reilly.
